Magic Basic Abilities
Adrenaline-generating magic abilities for your rotation
Overview
Magic has fewer basics than Melee, but more than Necromancy, for a nice middle ground. Magic and Range have quite a few similar basics that perform the same, so this can help with familiarity.
All of these Magic Basic Abilities will generate a base of 8% adrenaline.
Conditional Damage
Wrack
Wrack is a low cooldown, low damage ability with an average of 100% damage and a 3s cooldown. Damage is increased by 30% to 130% if used on a stunned or bound target.
Channelled Abilities
Concentrated Blast
This is the only channelled Magic basic, dealing 3 hits over 3.0s. These hits deal progressively more damage: 50%, 55% and 60%, totalling 165%.
Each hit also increases your Critical Strike Chance of your next magic attack by 5%. This means that the 2nd hit will have a 5% increased chance, the 3rd 10%, and the first hit of your next magic ability 15%.
It is worth noting that you may want to stop this ability from fully channelling by using your next ability as soon as possible, dealing only the first 2 hits. This ability has a short cooldown of 5.4s that is shared with Sonic Wave.
This ability can be upgraded to
Greater Concentrated Blast via an ability codex. This increases the total damage from 165% to 168% and compresses the 3 hits into 1.8s.
Bleeds
Combust
Combust is a damage over time basic, dealing 28% average damage per hit, for 5 hits over 5.4s, for a total of 140%. If the target moves, you will deal 2x damage for a total of 280%. The cooldown is 15s.
Area of Effect
Corruption Blast
This ability is obtained via a codex unlock.
Despite being in the AoE section, Corruption Blast is importantly also a bleed, but it is mainly used for AoE situations.
This will deal a hit to your target of 70%. Each subsequent hit will be reduced by 20% of the initial hit for a total of 5 hits: 70%, 56%, 42%, 28%, 14%, with an overall value of 210% and a cooldown of 15s.
Additionally, this will spread to all targets within 2 tiles of the primary target.
Dragon Breath
This ability deals 120% average damage to your primary target, and up to 4 additional targets within a frontal cone, with a cooldown of 10.2s.
Chain
Chain deals 70% average damage to your target, and up to 2 additional targets within 5 tiles of your main target. Chain has a cooldown of 10.2s.
Can be upgraded to
Greater Chain - your next ability will deal full damage to your main target, and half damage to all targets hit with Greater Chain.
Magma Tempest
This ability is obtained via a codex unlock.
Magma Tempest creates a 5x5 area of rain dealing 8 hits over 9.6s. Any targets within this area will be hit for 27.5% per hit, up to a total of 220% if all hits deal damage, with a 15s cooldown.
Note: There are 2 variants - instant cast (centered on target) and targeted (click to place).
Stuns
Impact
Impact deals 70% average damage, stunning and binding the target for 1.2s, with a 15s cooldown.
Ability Synergy
Sonic Wave
Sonic Wave deals 105% average damage and has a 5.4s cooldown shared with Concentrated Blast. When cast you will generate 6 Flow stacks for 3s. Flow stacks increase your Hit Chance by 1% per stack.
Can be upgraded to
Greater Sonic Wave - increases damage to 125% and generates 8 Flow stacks for 4.2s that also increase damage by 1% per stack.

Greater Chain - your next ability will deal full damage to your main target, and half damage to all targets hit with Greater Chain.
